A dozen favorite food trucks will compete in four categories at the third War of the Wagons.
The event is set for 6 p.m. Aug. 28 at the Texas Panhandle War Memorial and Education Center, 4111 S. Georgia St.
“This is one of the main fundraisers for the TPWM,” said Tim Reid, executive director. “Though it’s free to the public, our sponsors and donors have been generous to our mission to honor, commemorate and memorialize the service and sacrifice of veterans through education and public events.”
Participating trucks will include Frappin’ Event, YOLO’s, Senorita Saigon, Cheesecake HSTL, Yum Yum Hibachi, Potato My Way, Dora’s Cheese Steak, Donut NV, Family First Fry Bread, Blue Line BBQ, King & Queen Fries, and Judy Dawgs.
Each truck will be judged by three-person panels for best dessert, best single bite and best specialty dishes, and attendees can vote by tickets for people’s choice winners.
The War Memorial partners with Easy Thoughts Counseling and VA Amarillo Health Care to raise awareness for mental health.
Raffle tickets are $25 each or eight for $100 for a chance to win a Winchester Model 94 Teddy Roosevelt commemorative rifle.
