The rise of one of the biggest pop groups in history comes to the stage with Amarillo Little Theatre’s production of Jersey Boys, opening Thursday for a three-week run on the Allen Shankles MainStage, 2019 Civic Circle.
“I love a good jukebox musical,” said Jennifer Akins, the show’s musical director. “The music is fun. It’s recognizable. It’s catchy.”
Boy, is it. Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons had a phenomenal run of hits: “Sherry.” “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.” “My Eyes Adored You.”
“These songs stick in my head for days,” Akins said. “And I’m not mad about it.”
Stars include Zeth Collom as Frankie Valli, Diego Lopez as Tommy DeVito, Preston Moore as Bob Gaudio and Nels Bjork as Nick Massi.
Ticket prices vary. Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12 to 14, 19 to 21, and 27 and 28, plus 2:30 p.m. Feb. 22 and March 1.

Amarillo Opera will offer a special holiday treat with American Portraits: The Geometry of Love, set for 6 p.m. Saturday at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1601 S. Georgia St.
“This program will be very Valentine’s forward,” said Mary Jane Johnson, the opera’s general and artistic director. “We’re going for a multidimensional angle: Romantic love, of course, but also brotherly love, love of home, love of freedom, love of music, love lost, etc.”
Guest artists Jonathan Levin, piano, and Tyrone Chambers, tenor, will offer a program of “standard classical, spirituals, folks songs, original compositions and arrangements, running the gambit of emotions—serene, passionate, humorous, melancholy, rapturous and more,” Johnson said.
Tickets are $40. A cocktail hour will begin at 5 p.m.
