The outdoor festival moves out of downtown to Arts in the Sunset, 3701 Plains Blvd., and the music lineup has more of an Americana feel rather than the indie pop aesthetic that the fest has been known for in its first few years.
Mainstage headliners are Rayland Baxter, Midlake and Quaker City Night Hawks, with additional music across three stages from Gabo Fayuca, The Blue Johnnies, Bardown, Turnkey Tyrants, Grant Fithen, Ri Wolf, Derek Porterfield and Plemons Bridge, plus DJs RoRo and Antonio.
Fifteen muralists are taking part, as well. Don’t miss the Brick & Elm Food Truck Alley, naturally.
Tickets are $25 plus fees for general admission and $125 plus fees for VIP.
Saturday’s lining up to be a busy weekend for music.
Smokey Joe’s Bar & Grill, 2903 SW Sixth Ave., will bid farewell to the season with its End of Summer Party, set for 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Local bands Boss Texas, Velvet Funk, Jack Cryver & The Bad Decisions and Bomb City Groove will perform. There’s no cover, all the better to drop some cash on a great burger and cold brew.
Also Saturday, Amarillo College’s music department will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with its annual Fiesta Under the Stars. The outdoor concert will feature AC ensembles, food trucks and more. Admission is free.
575 Pizzeria revives its P3 event Sunday — that’s “People, Pints and Pedals.” Bicyclists will begin and end at 575, 2803 Civic Circle, with stops in between at Golden Light Cantina, 2906 SW Sixth Ave., and Lit Arcade Bar, 701 S. Polk St. Bikes take off from 575 at 1:30 p.m., and Velvet Funk will provide tunes at 575 beginning at 4:30. Entry fee is $10. For information, call 806-322-5575.
Movie options this week include one of the best-reviewed flicks of the year.
One Battle After Another, director Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest, stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a scruffy, paranoid former revolutionary who’s been living off the grid with his daughter. It’s set to open at both Cinemark Hollywood 16, 9100 Canyon Drive, and Cinergy, 9201 Cinergy Square.
Also opening are horror sequel The Strangers: Chapter 2, kids movie Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie, and special engagements of the original Spider-Man trilogy and anime classic Howl’s Moving Castle. Meanwhile, Tascosa Drive-In, 1999 Dumas Drive, will host a Retro Romance Double Feature with screenings of Grease and Dirty Dancing at 8:40 p.m. Friday and Saturday (with a single screening of Grease at the same time Sunday).
