Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood & Bar
One of nine Texas locations of this Cajun/Creole seafood franchise, the newly opened Hook & Reel is already drawing schools of diners to a corner of Bell Plaza at 45th & Bell. The restaurant entered the Amarillo market in March and business is cracking—especially on weekends.
Customers rave about the mix-and-match seafood boils, which allow patrons to pair a favorite catch—everything from snow crab legs to lobster tail to crawfish—with a flavorful sauce, preferred spice level and extras like sausage, hard-boiled eggs or rice. The amazing aroma of these boils hits you the moment you enter.
The breaded-and-fried baskets are also made to please, including flounder, catfish, oysters and more served with fries. This isn’t frozen fish, either. “Our fresh seafood is flown in three or four times a week,” says manager Brian Chen.
The full bar at Hook & Reel offers a variety of daily drink specials. Most of the signature cocktails were on the sweeter side, but a solid selection of draft beers helps manage the spice. Hook & Reel operates seven days a week: 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
