The best advice I have ever heard is: My dad used to tell me to always do the hard things in life, because the easy ones anybody can do. To challenge myself to see how far I could go and how much my soul could grow in the process.
My three most recommended books are: Martha Root: Lioness at the Threshold, by M. R. Garis; Rich Dad Poor Dad, by Robert Kiyosaki; Portals to Freedom, by Howard Colby Ives.
To me, success means: Being content with whatever befalls us and understanding that even the most painful circumstances are here to shape our lives beautifully. Success is the gift of learning to smile with our souls at every wonderful experience we have.
People who know me might be surprised that I: cry a lot—not because of sadness, but because of being in a constant state of awe, gratitude and joy. Every second in this life is full of miracles if we only pay attention to them.
My biggest pet peeve is: messiness! I like to keep everything clean and in its place.
Everyone in Amarillo needs to experience: The excitement of being alive under this fabulous blue sky! I hope everyone does that.
If I could change any one local thing it would be: Teaching our children and youth how to save and protect our natural resources. For example, avoiding waste of water, paper, electricity and food.
This city is amazing at: having many organizations and like-minded people who are working hard to improve our community.
My favorite place in Amarillo is: downtown at sunrise.
A local organization I love right now: The PLACE. Thanks to their loving support and visionary leadership, we and many other organizations are able to exist, serve and collaborate to improve the quality of life of local families.
