When you meet a new person, your attention focuses on their eyes. When you see a home or building, you can’t help but be drawn to its door. Whether due to its bright colors, ornate features, or the potential to catch a glimpse of an interior, there’s something compelling about a door. That’s why, over the past few years, multiple social media accounts have popped up devoted to doors all over the world, and why hashtags like #dortrait and #doorsofinstagram have flourished.

Amarillo doesn’t have centuries-old homes like some parts of the world, but we do have our own delightful doors. For this issue of Brick & Elm, we asked a few of our favorite local photographers—Venice Mincey, Shannon Richardson, and Jeremy and Lauren Pawlowski of Neighbors Creative—to submit photos of their favorite local doors.
