The Black Tie Affair, one of the absolute highlights of the city’s Christmas season, returns at 6 p.m. Dec. 12 in the Amarillo Civic Center Complex Heritage Ballroom, 401 S. Buchanan St.
Tables sell out notoriously fast in the summer, but one of the most amazing things about the party is that they somehow find room for walk-in traffic. Admission is only one unwrapped toy, to be given out the following day at the Northside Toy Drive Giveaway at Palo Duro High School, 1400 N. Grant St.
Now in its 13th year, the Black Tie Affair has provided toys for hundreds of children while also being the coolest party of the year. In addition to food, drinks and casino games, the party will feature dancing into the wee hours with music from Nubreed and DJ Pharaoh.
Organizers say it’s more important than ever to bring presents to the door. “We need more toys than ever because of the community’s needs,” Elton Bradley II, president of the Northside Toy Drive, said. For information, call 806-680-3602 or visit northsidetoydrive.com.

Center City of Amarillo will go underground for its second-annual Speakeasy fundraiser, set for 5 p.m. Dec. 4 in the Paramount Recreation Club, downstairs at the Barfield, 600 S. Polk St.
The party will run until 7 p.m., featuring live music, an open bar and bar bites.
