A veritable cornucopia of Amarillo eateries will offer their best at the 18th annual Restaurant Roundup, set for 5 p.m. March 5 in the Rex Baxter Building on the Tri-State Fairgrounds, 3301 S.E. 10th Ave.
The Roundup “is more than just an event,” said coordinator Monika Barbee. “It’s a celebration of our local restaurant community and an investment in the future of our industry.”
Hosted by the Panhandle Restaurant Association, the Roundup will feature more than 50 restaurants and wineries—everything from breakfast/brunch spots like Pancake Station and OVR EZE, to Italian faves like Pescaraz and Valore, to elevated fare from Girasol or Mickey’s, and so much more.
Attendees also can watch a live cooking competition featuring local culinary students. Last year, Brick & Elm‘s own Jason Boyett and Michele McAffrey happened to serve as judges and recapped the event here.
“We see tremendous talent right here in Amarillo,” Barbee said. “Too often, that talent feels the need to leave for larger cities to find opportunities. We want to change that. By supporting and showcasing these students now, we hope to encourage them to build their careers—and open their future restaurants—right here at home.”
Tickets are $40 each. Proceeds will benefit PRA’s scholarship program, as well as Meals on Wheels, Snack Pak 4 Kids, High Plains Food Bank’s Kids Cafe, Faith City Mission and local culinary classes.

Don Harrington Discovery Center’s popular Beerology event gets a makeover for the center’s ongoing 50th-anniversary celebration.
Mixology is set for 7 p.m. Feb. 27 at the center, 1200 Streit Drive, followed by an after-party at 10 p.m. at Bomb City Distillery, 306 S. Cleveland St.
At the main party, beer samples will be available from Amarillo Brewing Supply, High Plains Drafters, Pondaseta Brewing Co., Old Tascosa Brewing Co., Happy Half-Orc Meadery, and Bomb City Distillery.
An open bar sponsored by Reed Beverage will offer mixed drinks and wine, and Cocina on the Go and Calico County will provide food. Partygoers also can enjoy mechanical bull riding, poker and tabletop games.
