Supporters of some of Amarillo’s major nonprofits will have the chance to fill their bellies and fill the organizations’ coffers at several upcoming fundraiser dinners.
The Don Harrington Discovery Center pays tribute to Amarillo’s heritage as the helium capital of America with its “Floating Through Time” event, set for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at the center, 1200 Streit Drive. The party will feature an open bar, hors d’oeuvres from Nomad Napoletana, live jazz from Pocket Break and hands-on science activities. Tickets are $75 and up. Call 806-355-9547.
The Roaring ’20s returns with Acts Community’s Dances of the Decades event, set for 8 p.m. Oct. 4 at Arts in the Sunset, 3701 Plains Blvd. DJ Saga will provide dance music, while guests enjoy food, drinks, a costume contest, a silent auction and more. The Hope and Healing Place’s annual Big Cheese returns at 6 p.m. Oct. 7 in the Rex Baxter Building on the Tri-State Fairgrounds, 3301 SE 10th Ave. Gorge yourself on mac & cheese—the ultimate comfort food—as you help raise funds for an organization that provides comfort to those who are grieving. Jet off to romantic France for A Night in Paris, the major fundraiser for Martha’s Home, which helps women experiencing homelessness start new lives. Organizers promise a gourmet dinner, dancing and comedy from Mike Goodman. The event is at 6 p.m. Oct. 11 in the Amarillo Civic Center Complex Heritage Ballroom, 401 S.
